Application Deadlines: May 15th (Winter Semester) and November 1st (Summer Semester)
All students wishing to apply for a semester or year abroad at the University of Bonn are required to submit an application/nomination through our online form.
Before applying, you should contact the Erasmus Coordinator or advisory professor at your home university. They will provide you with all the important information regading the University of Bonn.
If the Erasmus Coordinator or advisory professor at your home university cannot answer all of your questions, please take a look at the Erasmus Fact Sheet for our university.
Countries and universities that do not appear in the online portal form usually do not have an Erasmus exchange with the University of Bonn. Please do not randomly choose a university or send unfinished documents. When in doubt, contact your Erasmus Departmental Coordinator.

Application Process for International Students
As an international student interested in starting your studies in the field of Geosciences, a large support group of students, staff, and professors await you in Bonn! Many non-german students have come to Bonn and completed their studies in the Institute of Geosciences and have profited from the international connections of our institute.
In Bonn, the following Bachelors Degree Programs are offered from the Institute of Geosciences:
- Bachelors program for Geosciences (Held in German)
- Bachelors Program for Meteorology and Geophysics (Held in German)
as well as the following Masters Degree Programs:
- M.Sc. Geology
- M.Sc. Physics of the Earth and Atmosphere (PEA)
- M.Sc. Organismic Biology, Evolutionary Biology and Palaeobiology (OEP)
- International Double Degree PEA (University of Bonn) and Geophysics for Natural Risks and Resources (University of Padua, Italy)

Step 1

Step 2
Fill in the following online application form at Mobility International Erasmus Application completely and carefully.
Please make sure that all the data you provided is correct, especially your e-mail address. All further information will be sent via e-mail!

Should you have any problems or questions during this step, please contact your Erasmus-Coordinator or the Dezernat Internationales in Bonn.
Step 3
- Transmit your data by completing all the online registration steps that are outlined in the Online Registration Guide
- Print your nomination form and have the Erasmus Coordinator of your home university sign and stamp it.
- Please scan and upload the signed nomination form to your Mobility-Online account within the application deadline.
Please note: Application forms should no longer be sent by email and will only be accepted through the Mobility-Online application form.
Step 4
The nomination and application process is now completed after uploading the form.
About 4 to 6 weeks after the aforementioned application deadlines, you will get an e-mail from your Erasmus Departmental Coordinator and the International Office containing an "Information Package" with further information on your Erasmus stay in Bonn.
After 6 weeks please contact the International Office, if you have not received this e-mail 6 weeks after the application deadline!
Step 5
Fill out a Learning Agreement with your the Erasmus-Coordinator from your home institution and with Dr. Valdivia-Manchego in Bonn. The Learning Agreement is typically given to you by your home institution during the application process.
By filling out the Learning Agreement, you will not only be choosing the courses which you will take during your time here, but also be insurring that all of the credits that you complete in Bonn will be recognized by your home institution.

Language Requirements
German is the main language of instruction at the University of Bonn, especially in undergraduate degree programmes (bachelor). Therefore a German level of B1 is required in general.
Most courses taught in English are offered at the graduate-level (master), and typically require a minimum level of English B2.
