I am a geologist with a methodical focus on inorganic geochemistry of marine deposits. My work encompasses modern as well as ancient depositional systems, from the Holocene back to the Paleozoic. I am especially interested in sedimentary systems of the high northern latitudes as well as hotspots of carbon burial. My current research can be categorised into the following aspects:
1. Diagenetic processes and benthic fluxes in modern marine sediments.
2. Present and past oxygen-depleted marine environments.
3. Biogeochemical processes in the modern and past Arctic Ocean.
4. Coupled biogeochemical cycling of C, S, nutrients and metals.
